Emerging technologies are considered to possess immense potential to address developmental challenges in almost every field and can serve as game changers towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prominent technologies are Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Additive Manufacturing and Blockchain technologies, among others. These technologies have innovative applications that are known to improve the quality of life, drive economic growth, and increase the productivity and efficiency in manufacturing and service sectors.

The International Conference will examine the enabling policy environment needed to facilitate innovation and technology transfer for sustainable development across the whole technology value chain that includes policy, financial support and consumer marketing to improve market penetration. It would also discuss challenges, opportunities and best practices in applying emerging technologies for supporting countries to achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals. The key objectives of the conference are to:

  1. Create awareness on emerging technologies that can accelerate the progress in achieving SDGs;
  2. Facilitate sharing of best practices and experiences related to the promotion of emerging technologies and applications;
  3. Facilitate regional cooperation among member countries on the innovative use of new and emerging technologies for social purposes and in achieving SDGs; and
  4. Enable access to information on available platforms, mechanisms and networks for cross-border transfer of these emerging technologies
