Conversion of Plastic Waste to Fuel Oil

Business Model :
Jupiter Tech Projects (JTP) would like to partner, rather like to enter into a Joint Venture with a financial institution for setting up its Project – “Conversion of Plastic Waste to Fuel Oil”, on a 50:50 percentage basis.

This Project has been awarded a Gold Medal from IIM – Ahmedabad and the Patents for the same have also been filed in.

The output of this conversion is Fuel Oil and LPG Gas which can be used for the following:
a) Burner Oil in Agricultural Pumps.
b) Fuel Oil in DG Sets.
c) Fuel Oil for Boilers
d) Can be used as Marine Fuel.
e) An Input for Refineries.
f) Fuel Oil
g) LPG gas can be typically used to Power Electricity using Power Generators.

We at JTP are looking for a total funding of 2.5 Million Dollars (approx 10crores), the break even for the same can be attained within 2yrs of Operation.

With the Barrel Price touching $103, we are able to manufacture Crystal Clear White Oil for about Rs.13/- to 16 per litre.

Market Potential in India :
Many may not realize that throwing away 'PLASTIC' is throwing away a ready fuel source. Plastic is primarily petroleum and burns with high efficiency. USA has been quick to see the potential and PENN STATE University has been an active research partner with respect to the creation of PLASTOFUEL an easy handling fuel nugget made from various dirty plastics.

In a city like mumbai, nearly 8000 tones of Waste is generated on a daily basis, of which 4 -5 % is plastic waste, most of it goes to landfill, as its economic use is hindered by two integrated factors. First, plastic waste is comprised of a large number of different resins, and each type has had to be handled separately or sorted until now.

With the rising cost of the Crude Oil barrel, which speaks about Fuel oil at the rate of approx Rs.25/- per litre, we are able to generate the same at about Rs.13/- to 16 /- per litre.

Along with Fuel Oil we also generate LPG gas, which can be used to power electricity using Power Generators, thereby also attracting carbon credits.

Scale and Profitability :
We would initially like to setup a 5MT conversion unit, thereby with 90% efficiency we would be able to generate approx 1.25 Lac Liters per month of Fuel Oil coupled with 18000KG of LPG Gas.

Investment required is 2.5Million dollars, approx - Rs.10 crores. Net Profits of about Rs.1 crore can be earned over the next two years. Now this profit does not include the carbon credits or the profits from Power Generation.

Exit :
Once we have things in place, we could grow to a 10MT conversion unit, thereby providing an exit option for the investors as well. At the right point of time JTP would also go public.
Again with the rising demand for so called Plasto-fuel, there will always be a rise in for this product.

Proposer Background :
The Proposer is a Ph.D in Chemistry with around 40 years of experience in Waste and Renewal Energy and has severed several Govt. as well as private based companies. The proposer wishes to setup the unit with his sons, who too hails from Techno-commercial background and are currently serving in a full time employment.
