[Event] Frontier Technologies for Climate Action and Resilience: Connecting Data, Trust and Incentives

The Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations ESCAP will organize a side event entitled “Frontier Technologies for Climate Action and Resilience: Connecting Data, Trust and Incentives” on 2 September 2026, from 12:15 to 1:15 PM Bangkok Time, at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, in conjunction with the fifth session of the ESCAP Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation.

Frontier technologies are creating new opportunities to strengthen climate action and resilience across Asia and the Pacific. The session will bring together practitioners working on geospatial technologies for climate-resilient power systems, digital infrastructure for carbon-market transparency, blockchain-enabled environmental action, and digital incentive mechanisms.

Rather than focusing on technologies in isolation, the discussion will examine where they add practical value, what institutional and technological conditions are required for effective implementation, what limitations remain, and what is needed to support wider adoption and scale-up in developing countries.

The event will feature short presentations followed by a moderated discussion with experts and practitioners from across the region.
