Philrice - AGAD Rotary Reaper (Philippines)
The "Philrice-AGAD" rotary reaper is designed for cutting cereal crops and then laying them in windrow on the field surface. It comprises as its principal components, the units for power, traction and carriage, cutting and windrowing. Cutting is effected by discs equipped with cutting blades. Windrow is made by conveying and releasing a band of cut straws to the right - hand side of the machine. This reaper model is cheaper and simpler to constuct, repair and maintain than conventional cereal reapers owing to simple design and use of locally available materials like motorcycle chain and sprocket for its transmission elements. It was designed to work in paddy field conditions of Asia and is equipped with both rubber tires and steel cagewheels for dry or soft fields. It has a maximum capacity of 2 ha/d using a 6-hp gasoline engine with two alternating operators. It has grain losses for shattering paddy varieties of 0.5 to 1%. The design is equipped with forward and reverse motion using appropriate mechanisms. The machine motion and reaper operation are equipped with separate clutches for better operator control. The engine prime mover can be detached from the machine for other uses.
Sector: Machinery & Equipment
