Description of technology
The Biogas Technology (BT) offers an efficient way of biomass utilization. It involves anaerobic fermentation of organic materials such as animal dung, agricultural wastes, aquatic weeds etc. to produce a methane rich fuel gas and a value added organic fertilizer. Thus, it has considerable potential for providing fuel and fertilizer besides being a system for waste recycling, prevention of pollution and ecological imbalance and improvement of sanitary conditions in the rural areas. A typical biogas plant consists of a digester where the anaerobic fermentation takes place, a gasholder for collecting the biogas, the input-output units for feeding the influent and storing the effluent respectively and a gas distribution system.
Specific Features
Based on the effective heat produced, a 5M3 biogas plant can replace, in a month fuel equivalent of 64Kg of LPG or 92.5 Litters of Kerosene oil or 245Kg of Charcoal or 838Kg of fuel wood or 1850Kg of animal dung or 750KWh of electricity. To the housewive
