Asian and Pacific Centre for Transfer of Technology (APCTT) of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand is organising a “Workshop on Transboundary Air Pollution: Strengthening ASEAN–APCTT Cooperation through Integrated Technology, Policy, and Field Practices for Sustainable Air Quality" from 3-5 February 2026 at Chiang Mai, Thailand. The workshop is a kickoff activity under the SCOSA’s initiative entitled the Common Blue Sky: Earth Observation (EO) for a Cleaner Air in ASEAN aiming to enhance technical capacity in the use of satellite and geospatial technologies for fire and air pollution monitoring in the region.

The workshop envisages to strengthen regional understanding of transboundary fire and haze dynamics; build technical capacity in the use of satellite and geospatial technologies for fire and air pollution monitoring and to promote regional collaboration and co-development of a transboundary monitoring approach.

The workshop is expected to be attended by representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS), ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC), from Science and Technology Division and member States of APCTT.
